Literacy is an essential part of society and our education. The impact that English will have on all pupils’ lives is unparalleled, therefore it is important that not only are key skills taught but a genuine love of the subject is fostered at such an early age. At Peregrines we provide high- quality learning experiences which will enable each pupil to develop a concrete understanding of literacy practices and a passion for literature.

At Peregrines, our English lessons are broken into key subjects designed to develop crucial skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.  Proficiency in these areas allow for pupils to communicate effectively and to express themselves creatively and imaginatively.

Throughout the year the pupils are involved in activities such as World Book Day, Poetry Day, visiting author workshops, national competitions for poetry and short stories and educational visits.
