Music is a unique form of communication which enables personal expression, reflection and emotional development. It is also a universal language which can be understood and appreciated by all ages and all cultures. At Peregrines, all pupils experience a wide variety of musical styles and they grow in confidence as they gain fulfilment through their enjoyment of the subject.

The Music Department at Peregrines aims to stimulate and inspire each child musically from Pre-Reception through to Year 3. The school emphasises the importance of group singing and ensemble performance to stretch the pupils’ musicianship, artistic output and creativity. Children are encouraged to learn different instruments and join the school orchestra, ensembles and choirs.

Our music department has qualified as an ABRSM exam centre and the school is looking forward to hosting its more sets of exams in July. Classroom music includes learning about composition, music history and theory through instrumentation and performance. Music is a vibrant part of school life and the pupils enjoy singing and performing to each other in weekly music assemblies.

Pupils also have the option to undertake separate, personal study of instruments with our wonderful Peripatetic teachers.
